Learning to Hear God --Psalm 91

I have recently been reading and watching a series on " Learning to Hear God's Voice", by Dr. Mark Virkler. He has shared many helpful insights that have added value to my pursuit of intimacy with God. The apostle Paul's desire was to "know him in the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His suffering." The word "knowing" in this sense is from the Greek ginosko which is a word that represents intimacy between a husband and a wife. Lord, that I my learn to KNOW you, follow you, and serve you. These entries are simply reflections as I dialogued with the Lord:

Journal entry, June 20, 2011

Lord, good morning. You brought to my mind Psalm 91 this morning. I reread it and desire to ponder and meditate on its precepts. You brought me this Psalm in 1971, when visiting New York City. As I rode the subway, you brought this Psalm to my mind as a thought and I turned to read it from my little Gideon Bible.  I was afraid of walking down the street toward the “Living Room”, our place of ministry for the week with Herb Walker and Lucille. The word brought comfort to my soul and helped overcome fear.

You were in the palms of my hands, son during your ministry time there. I was teaching you to trust me and depend upon my protection over you. I hover over you with a canopy of love. You do not have to be afraid for any terror, because I am with you to protect you and keep you.  I permitted you to see some of the needs in that city, so that even as a young teenager, you could see m y love for all.

Then, you revealed Psalm 91 to my mother, after I had my heart attack in 2002. You told her she didn’t have to worry or fear because the rhema was from verse 16: “with a long lift will I satisfy him, and let him behold my salvation.”

Your mom has prayed many prayers for you over the years. You were and are a precious son to her. She has sent up many prayers to my throne in your behalf; I have heard all of them, and bring them into focus as the time is right. I assured her that she did not have to be afraid, because you are in the palm of my hand.

A third time you have brought this Psalm to understanding. You said last week in our time together that this was a Psalm for our church, a rhema word to encourage the people.

The times that are coming are difficult. My people will learn how to depend entirely on me for each decision. As you draw out direction and answers from the wells of salvation, you will learn to walk closely and in obedience to my desires. This is for your good and for your protection. You do not have to be afraid. As I was with Noah, so I will be with you through he storms, winds, floods, and rains. I will bring you to a new place in me. Learn to know my voice so that you will not go into destruction or fall into temptation.

I had an interesting dream in the early hours of this morning. In the dream, I was lying down resting and the Lord was speaking to me. He was discussing the Kingdom. As I asked about the time of the coming of the Kingdom, suddenly my bed began to shake, and I was starting to rise, or be lifted up from it. I felt as if I was about to fly. Then I awoke. Lord is there anything you would like to say to me concerning this dream?

Unto those that are watching, I will  appear. I have given my people the signs that will allow them to see and hear the things that are coming on the earth. You must be learning to hear me, walk with me, and be willing to come to where I lead you. This is your security even in times of difficulty. My people will shine as lights in the darkness even in troubling times.
